Kahkwa Club traces its roots back to 1893 when it first opened as a social club. The Kahkwa golf course in its present day location opened in 1917. The course was designed by Donald Ross.
The Kahkwa Club golf course was built on rolling terrain and has greens that are sloped and fast. There are mature oak, maple, apple, and fir trees lining almost all the fairways. This club hosted the LPGA U.S. Open 1972. The only water hazard that comes into play is a man-made pond on hole #3, a 151-yard, par 3.
